After months with the AXIS-Y physical sunscreen alongside other mineral options, it's totally fine and gentle with at most a faint scent, but they wouldn't repurchase and prefer the Skin1004 mineral sunscreen.

“Yeah I still use the Axis Y. It’s overall totally fine and might work better for others”

Their skin reacts badly to chemical filters. Of the physical sunscreens they've tried, they like the AXIS-Y: not overly greasy or thick, and it rubs in well.

“Axis Y- I like it. It’s not overly greasy or thick and rubs”

The AXIS-Y sunscreen pills on their acne-prone, tretinoin-treated skin, whether over nothing or over a ceramide serum.

“Axis-Y sunscreen pills on my skin, what should I do?”

Older than 36 months. These may describe an earlier version.

First impressions of the version 3 sunscreen on their own sensitive, dry skin: a calming formula with a semi-matte first layer that gets oily with more layers, and a mild white cast that fades within 10–15 minutes but shows on reapplication. Best for normal or oily skin; dry skin needs a moisturizer underneath.

“A nice calming formulation if you need a physical sunscreen and like niacinamide (2%), calendula, mugwort and squalane.”

Trying the reformulated AXIS-Y physical sunscreen on very pale, very sensitive skin: a strong scent and very thick texture, but no strong white cast, it sank in within 10 minutes, and it didn't pill under makeup.

“First impressions are that it has quite a strong scent, very thick texture and for me it had no strong white cast”

With a medium/tan skin tone and combination skin, they found the white cast mild and the texture typical of physical sunscreens. The mattifying finish could be an issue, but overall it's OK.

“Im typically medium/tanned shade, but I also did not find the white cast to be severe either.”

Their go-to sunscreen: it goes on quite white but dries to a minimal cast with a tone-up effect and a semi-matte, non-greasy finish they can't feel. It makes their skin look so good they sometimes wear it at night.

“The Axis Y physical sunscreen is my go-to sunscreen.”

In a hot climate the AXIS-Y sunscreen made their face sweat a lot in summer and stung their eyes; they prefer the Isntree physical sunscreen.

“In my country that Axis Y SPF was a fail during summers because it would make my face sweat”

Loves the AXIS-Y sunscreen: 20% zinc, a light sheen, goes on like lotion with no cast after 5 minutes, and smells strongly of earthy mugwort. They dislike the pipette packaging.

“Absolutely love the axis y sunscreen and I love that it’s 20% zinc.”

On dehydrated combination skin in a humid climate, the white cast blends into a brightening tone-up, but it makes them extra oily, sits on top of the skin, moves around during the day and pills under makeup. They only use it at home.

“There is a bit of a white cast that does end up blending out, almost like a brightening tone-up for my natural skin.”

Loved the original AXIS-Y physical sunscreen (milky, little white cast, dewy rather than greasy), but the reformulated version made them super greasy and gave them tiny bumps within a few days, so they stopped.

“After finishing the bottle I tried buying it again”

Smooth and silky, with a slight white cast that fades after a few minutes and a herby mugwort smell. It feels more like a moisturizer than a sunblock and stayed on all day without feeling sticky or dry. They like the narrow-tip tube.

“The sunscreen was very smooth and silky on my skin.”
